HISTORY

 

STANDU, Inc. was incorporated on June 22, 2015. Prior to that date, a series of meetings among the people who eventually coalesced to form the inaugural Board of Directors of STANDU, Inc. had revealed a mutual interest in matters relative to the advancement of Deaf populations and the championing of their issues in various African countries. These meetings occurred over a period of two years before it was decided that there was no time for action like the present. ​

 

We are together in the belief that the future of Africa's Deaf communities is in the hands of Deaf Africans. Thus every effort has been made to identify and bring on board Deaf Africans with progressive minds in order to create a Board with multinational identities so as to maximize our reach. Thus, the Board as currently constituted has representation from Cameroon, Chad, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Sudan.
